“Fall Back”

Two years ago in November I was frantically knitting and then painting my entry for the Vogue’s Magic of Mohair Competition.

November 1st and another time change is lurking around the corner.  I find the time changes hard to adjust to and very irritating – at least the Fall one allows for more sleep!

Fall is hitting hard right now – there was twice as much rain in the last two weeks of October, as normal – trying to make up for the late start I suppose.  The rain does not agree with the camera – I shall have to see if you can get rain-gear for a camera.  I could have taken some stunning pictures of a rainstorm at Piper’s last weekend!

Last year we had snow in Early November!

What rainy weather is good for is Knitting – lots of knitting.  I have started a new hat, a new sweater and only ends to weave in on two other projects.  I picked up an old project from last year and I have a couple of pairs of socks close to finished – OK – they are only over half-way!  I”ll consider that close!

The pattern writing is going great as well – I have 4 patterns under construction.  Two that will be done for classes over the next month and a half: plus one from the past and one for the future!

Fair-isle Gauntlet Gloves.

With all of the fair-isle knitting I have been doing lately I went back into the vaults and looked at some old samples that never got turned into patterns.  I may resurrect them.  The DK weight gloves and mittens are quite good and would be a fast knit.  Maybe for the Spring.  I particularly like the gloves.  The fact that they are purple has nothing to do with it!!

Collecting the yarns and playing with teapots – Vibrant colours to wake up the November blues – Last year’s “Spring Cozies” in the planning stages!

Plus “Patina” the next KAL is fully under construction pattern and samples.  Like the earlier KAL’s there will be a 4-ply fingering version and a lace weight version.  Fiona and I are having so much fun with this one!

I have eaten way too much candy over the last couple of days – I wonder why!?  Halloween is way too dangerous, with candy and Hawkins cheezies in the house!  And I had baking as well!  I’ll have to be good for a while to make up for it!  Well after the candy is gone!

I working on a Slouchy hat to go with these mittens. I need an interesting name – any suggestions?

What is your favorite Halloween candy?  When I was a child it was those horrible wrapped sticky candies – you know the ones – they were wrapped in Halloween paper and you got them by the handful!

I haven’t seen or thought of those things in years.  I just went cruising around the internet to see if I could find any pictures of them, but no luck!  My husband thinks that they were called “Halloween Kisses” – he thought that they were awful!

Winter Relief Mittens – bright colours to enliven a grey days

I seem to be in a much better mood now than when I started this post.  I really do love this time of the year.  There are so many beautiful aspects to the shorter days and the options that come with quiet time in the “Gloomy Grey Days” of the Fall.

Painted corner from “Victorian Falls” Wrap

How do you enliven your fall?  Do you walk or knit or paint or read or occupy yourself with any the myriad of options available to us!?

Happy Knitting
